About us
Serving Greene, Morgan, Putnam, Hancock and Baldwin counties.
The Circle of Love Center, Inc. (COLC) was founded in 1997 as the Greene County Family Violence Task Force. Established to provide supportive services and prevent domestic violence, this task force was established after a local family experienced a tragic murder/suicide at the hands of an abusive husband. In 2002, the Greene County Family Violence Task Force became Circle of Love Center, Inc. Today, Circle of Love Center Inc. is an emergency safe shelter and resource center for domestic violence victims and their children. Based in Greene County, we provide residential and non-residential services to five (5) counties: Greene, Morgan, Hancock, Putnam, and Baldwin Counties. COLC addresses the unique needs of victims of domestic, family and dating violence. Our commitment is focused on raising awareness and understanding of this problem within our communities and improve outcomes for Georgia families. Services that are offered to victims include, but are not limited to, safe shelter, 24-hour hotline access, group and individual counseling, child counseling, case management, legal advocacies, court accompaniment, transports, employment and housing search assistance, referrals to community agencies and financial assistance.
Circle of Love Center, Inc. stands firmly for the right each citizen has by birth: to live in a home environment that is free from the physical or emotional danger of violence. The goal of the agency’s services is to empower survivors of domestic violence by providing the life-changing services they need to heal and move forward.
Circle of Love Center Logo: Symbolism and Meaning
The Circle of Love Center logo powerfully represents our mission as a domestic violence shelter and resource center. Each element has been intentionally chosen to reflect the strength, compassion, and support we offer to survivors and their families.
Our Tagline – “Love Shouldn’t Hurt”
This simple yet profound statement underscores our mission. We are dedicated to replacing violence and fear with safety, love, and empowerment.
Shades of Purple
Purple is the nationally recognized color for domestic violence awareness. The varying shades in the logo symbolize the many layers of trauma experienced by survivors, from the visible bruises of physical abuse to the invisible scars of emotional pain. Purple also represents courage, survival, and healing, values we strive to embody in all we do.
The Circle:
Encircling the tree is a continuous ring, symbolizing unity, protection, and the community effort needed to break the cycle of abuse. The ring reflects how we surround survivors with comprehensive support, reminding them they are not alone.
The Tree:
The tree signifies strength, growth, and resilience. Its roots represent the foundation of safety and stability we provide, while its branches and leaves reaching outward signify personal growth, hope, and the journey toward a new life.
The Heartshaped Leaves:
Among the leaves are subtle heart shapes, representing the love, compassion, and emotional care we extend to each client. They remind us that love should never hurt, and that healing is nurtured through kindness and understanding.
The Hands:
The tree’s trunk is shaped like two uplifted hands, offering help, lifting others, and symbolizing the support we provide. These hands embody our core values: offering a hand, not judgment.
Never forget that walking away from something unhealthy is brave even if you stumble a little on your way out the door.
