Steven Paul Jobs Born in 1955 in Green Bay, Wisconsin Adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs. Lived in Santa Clara, California Graduated high school in Cupertino, California Skipped many grades because he was deemed a “genius”. Loved electronics from an early age. Built his 1 st  radio at 8
College: Jobs went to Reed College in Portland Oregon He studied Poetry, Literature, and Physics After one semester, Jobs dropped out of school, but still attended some classes for another 18 months and then moved back to California. He said, “ I did not want to attend the classes I was supposed to attend, but the classes I  wanted  to attend”.
The Steves & Their 1 st  Product: Jobs met Steve Wozniak shortly after they both left school.  “ Woz ”  was a very smart engineer, especially in electronic gadgets While developing a  “ blue box ”  device that would make free long distance phone calls, Jobs convinced Woz to sell it to Berkeley students . Jobs began to show that he was great at selling products.
 
The Beginnings of Apple: After spending time in India in 1974, Jobs returned to America He visited with Woz the Homebrew Computer Club, but was not content with just the creation of electronics.
Jobs convinced Woz to help him create a personal computer, the Apple I Jobs, with marketing help from a friend, had the vision of creating a computer company that would make and sell personal computer s. After showing the Apple I to electronics stores, Jobs was able to sell 25. After selling his Volkswagon mini-bus, and asking Woz to sell his scientific calculator, the two raised enough money to create Apple Computers.
 
Apple: Jobs and Woz sold the Apple I in 1976 for $666, making over $776,000 from sales They used the money to hire even more people and in 1977, Apple released the Apple II  The Apple II was very successful and eventually led to Apple selling shares that instantly made Jobs worth over $250,000,000
Positive Growth From 1977 to 1983, Apple continued to grow very quickly. But, in 1981, IBM finally entered the personal computer market, and in just two years began to outsell Apple. After the failure of the Apple III and Lisa (a computer named after Job’s daughter who he abandoned at birth), Jobs needed a new computer that could compete with the IBM PC.
The Macintosh: In 1984, Apple released the Macintosh, the first personal computer with a graphical user interface. It had 128K of memory, and was expandable. Along with the mouse, the Macintosh was the most revolutionary computer made up to that point.
The Macintosh:
Jobs Fired: In 1985, because Jobs was so young and not a good manager, the Apple Board brought in a new Chief Executive Officer to run the company. Jobs was eventually forced to leave Apple, the company he co-founded Jobs now started another computer company called NeXT, and he also invested in and became the CEO of Pixar, the first movie company to make animated movies using computer generated images. Pixar went on to make many great movies with Disney (Toy Story 1,2,3, Bug’s Life, Monster’s Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Cars 1,2, Up, Wall-E), and Disney eventually bought Pixar for $7 Billion dollars, $1.5 Billion of which went to Jobs.
Jobs back at Apple: In 1996, Apple bought NeXT, and with it came Steve Jobs. Jobs became the CEO of Apple and immediatley had success with the iMac, the first computer mainly marketed for its looks.
Apple Designs Cool Products and Changes the way we do things: Jobs continued to change the computer/electronics industry, by overseeing projects like the iPod, iTunes, Mac Books, and iphone. Apple has become so much more than just a computer company. Apple is now the highest valued company in the world at ~$350,000,000,000

Death: Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2003. It was a rare form that had a very high survival rate if surgically removed as quickly as possible. Jobs, instead, decided to try to fight it for 9 months using non-traditional methods such as diet. This attempt failed and the cancer spread He had surgery in 2004 The cancer returned in 2008 and had spread to his liver. He had a liver transplant in 2009 The cancer continued to spread slowly and Steve Jobs died on October 5, 2011 Jobs is survived by his wife, Laurene, kids, Lisa, Reed, Eve & Erin
