What’s hiding in the shadows just beyond what you can see?   I had the great pleasure of attending the The Association of Professional Builders Summit on Friday last week. Thank you Nicole Scanlan for the invitation. I am always impressed with the depth of insight and fantastic value APB provides. You don’t know what you don’t know and what better forum to find out what you really should know.   My Key takeaways:   🤖 AI I saw live demonstrations of: ✅ Creating standard operating procedure documents (in your desired format) from simple videos shot on site or taken from youtube. ✅ Scheduling customer meetings in your diary for you Sheryl Soo I’ve been seeing your Zapier posts but this is the first time I’ve seen a live demo. Very cool stuff! The above where done using very simple plain English prompts (no code required). Once setup, the above tools get to work. Would things like this save you time?     💵 Payment Smart contracts for secure payment terms. Arguably the ugliest part of construction is the mess payment issues can cause. Think trades destroying their own work because they haven’t been paid and/or record numbers of insolvencies. Clint Bartram from Paid has engineered a solution that gives builders security around payments which then in turn gives them access to more favourable terms of trade with suppliers.   It’s exciting to see tools like this come to market because they have the power to increase productivity in construction and help us build more homes.
