IBM Quantum is the platform that will deliver the first demonstrations of true quantum advantage, and that milestone is approaching fast. But quantum advantage — where quantum computers solve problems more accurately, cheaply, or efficiently than purely classical computation — won’t be realized by any one researcher or research organization working alone. It will only be achieved by the quantum community working together.

This means that quantum hardware and software providers like IBM® must continue pushing the state of the art while enterprise and academic researchers explore the most promising use cases. As part of our commitment to facilitating that collaboration, we are pleased to announce the second-annual IBM Quantum Developer Conference. The event kicks off with an evening welcome reception on 11 November followed by three days of programming from 12-14 November 2025, all taking place in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Interested in attending this year’s event? Apply today to secure your spot.

QDC 2025 will bring together developers, researchers, and quantum community leaders from all over the world to enjoy an exclusive preview of the most recent updates to the IBM Quantum Roadmap. These include the forthcoming IBM Quantum Nighthawk and IBM Quantum Loon processors that will pave the way to advantage and eventually large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computing.

Participants will also get hands-on demos of cutting-edge IBM quantum software tools. These will include demonstrations covering the latest in quantum error mitigation techniques, high-performance capabilities enabled by the Qiskit SDK’s new C API, and other exciting updates to the Qiskit software stack designed to enable near-term demonstrations of quantum advantage.

Most importantly, IBM Quantum Developer Conference 2025 will center on you, the users and supporters who have played such a vital role in shaping the evolution of the tools and services we provide. As you’ll see below, we’re building an agenda that will give attendees a one-of-a-kind opportunity to meet with IBM experts, get guidance on developing quantum workflows, build new technical skills, and troubleshoot existing experiments.

An agenda built for you

Our top priority in developing the agenda for IBM Quantum Developer Conference 2025 is to ensure that it speaks directly to you, our community. Each day of the QDC event will cover workflow-specific applications, with the aim of empowering you and your organization to push your research to the advantage scale.

At QDC, you’ll learn about the latest advancements in classical error mitigation tools and the powerful new features introduced with the recently upgraded IBM Quantum Platform. You’ll also get the chance to witness demonstrations of key IBM Quantum Roadmap benchmarks through a practitioner’s lens, and you’ll see firsthand how we’re evolving IBM Quantum Platform toward advantage-grade workflows.

Much like last year’s event, each session at QDC 2025 will deliver an exclusive, insider’s view of strategies we’re using to pave the way to quantum advantage for users of our systems.

However, QDC attendees won’t be passive observers. The event will also include engaging breakout challenges based on custom tutorials that give you the chance to exercise your ingenuity and quantum expertise. Networking sessions will invite you to learn from and forge new relationships with some of the most brilliant and accomplished quantum researchers in the world. Additionally, the event will provide ample opportunity to share your thoughts and feedback with IBM leadership to help make our tools and services the best they can be.

Who should attend

As was the case with last year’s inaugural QDC event, any member of the quantum community may apply to attend IBM Quantum Developer Conference 2025. However, space is very limited. That’s why we ask that all prospective attendees submit an application to be considered for the event. Our team will carefully review all submissions and distribute invitations to invited guests in the months leading up to the conference dates in November.

Selection criteria prioritizes active Qiskit users who have substantial experience working as a researcher or developer in any relevant field of quantum information science and engineering. Quantum developers, engineers, researchers, computational scientists, educators, students, and any other quantum computing professionals or enthusiasts are all excellent candidates for this year’s guest list.

Applications are open from now until September 19. We will begin notifying invited guests on August 1. We strongly recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible to increase your chances of securing an invitation to the event.

If your application is not selected, or if you are unable to attend due to travel and scheduling limitations, don’t worry! We will release all materials and announcements shared at the event, as well as recordings of all presentations, to our global quantum community shortly following the event.
