- 2. Introduction Nowadays we have a lot of scientists discussing about the consequences of the green house effect to our planet.
- 3. Green House Effect The Earth’s atmosphere acts a little like the glass of a greenhouse, allowing the heat of the Sun to enter and not going out.
- 5. The Carbon Credit The UN has developed a system called Carbon Credit as a measure to reduce the CO2 gas emission.
- 6. The Carbon Credit Carbon credits are measured in units of certified emission reductions (CERs).
- 7. Financial Aspect For trading purposes, one credit is considered equivalent to one ton of CO2 emission reduced.
- 8. Financial Aspect Such a credit can be sold in the international market. The trading can take place in open market.
- 9. How it works Developed countries that have exceeded the levels can either cut down emissions, or borrow or buy carbon credits from developing countries.
- 10. The Kyoto Treat The Kyoto Treaty was signed by as many as 141 countries, with the US (one of the major polluting Countries) staying out of the agreement at the first time.
- 11. The Kyoto Treat The Kyoto Treaty aims to reduce the green house gas emission by 5.2% below the 1990 levels by 2012.
