  • ✊ USUBC Welcome Dinner in Rome Brings Together Transatlantic Leadership for Strategic Dialogue On July 8 – USUBC hosted an influential group of our Members, Partners, Senior Advisors and senior government representatives of the United States and Ukraine for the USUBC Members and Senior Advisors Welcome Dinner at the historic Palazzo Colonna in Rome. The event opened with the welcome remarks by Irina Paliashvili, USUBC President & CEO and keynote remarks by Oleksii Sobolev, CFA, First Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, followed with the discussion moderated by Eric Luhmann, Chair of the USUBC Executive Committee. The discussion was led by the USUBC Senior Advisors: Anders Aslund, Amb. John Herbst, Natalie Jaresko, Anna Kovalenko and Amb. Kurt Volker, and focused on the key priorities in Ukraine’s recovery and transatlantic business engagement. Among the distinguished guests were Oleksiy Sobolev, First Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Vitalii Koval, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Dr. Tetiana KOROTKA, Deputy Business Ombudsman of Ukraine, USUBC Executive Committee members Lev Holubec (PwC), Michael E. Kirst (EuroAtlantic Partners), Eric Luhmann (Chair) and Greg Fishman JD (Secretary/Treasurer), Burak Pehlivan and Emre Karaahmetoglu, Chairman and Vice Chairman of the International Turkish Ukrainian Business Association. Also in attendance were Italian and European geopolitical, legal and economic experts contributing a valuable European perspective to the discussion. A special highlight of the evening was the performance by the Cultural Forces – a group of Ukraine’s defenders who are also professional musicians, and who use their talent to share Ukrainian culture and resilience through music, poetry, and storytelling. Their repertoire, featuring the traditional Ukrainian bandura, captivated the audience with a mix of classical pieces and powerful contemporary arrangements.   • 🇺🇦🇺🇲 The U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC), our Members and Partners played an active role in the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2025), which took place in Rome on July 10–11. This major international forum brought together the leaders of the Governments, international financial institutions, civil society and private sector to strengthen global support for Ukraine’s recovery. Following the week of extensive sessions, meetings, events and announcements of new projects and investments, we are pleased to present the special edition of the USUBC Digest covering the participation of USUBC, our Members and Partners at the URC in Rome. USUBC is proud to have contributed to these historic efforts and remains committed to promoting strong public-private cooperation and advancing opportunities for the U.S. private sector and all of our Members active participation in Ukraine’s future.   • 📌 On June 18, 2025, the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) and the IFC - International Finance Corporation co-hosted a webinar titled “Investing in Ukraine’s Future: IFC Solutions for USUBC Members.” The event offered insights into IFC’s role within The World Bank Group and its support for private sector investment in Ukraine during the war and in preparation for reconstruction. Speakers included Sacha Akira BACKES, Senior Investment Officer, MAS Europe Upstream and Advisory; Olaf Schmidt, Industry Director, MAS Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean; Oksana Varodi, Upstream and Advisory Manager, MAS Europe; Olena Voloshina, Senior Country Officer, IFC Ukraine; and Marcia Yu, Industry Manager, MAS Europe. They presented current IFC investment projects in Ukraine, shared examples of partnerships with U.S. companies in developing regions, and discussed key sectors for future engagement, including agribusiness and manufacturing. Greg Fishman JD, Secretary-Treasurer of USUBC, served as moderator, with Iryna Chaika, USUBC Program Manager, leading the Q&A. The event reinforced IFC’s commitment to supporting private investment in Ukraine and opened new channels for collaboration with the USUBC business community.

  • 🕊️ USUBC Participates in “Charitable Ukraine – 2024” Awards Ceremony On June 19, the annual Charitable Ukraine – 2024 awards ceremony gathered volunteers, philanthropists, public organizations and international partners to recognize outstanding contributions to charitable work in Ukraine.   Representing the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC), President & CEO Irina Paliashvili and Executive Director Nadiia Khomaziuk took part in presenting awards to this year’s winners. 📌 Several USUBC members were among those honored, including SoftServe, MHP, Razom for Ukraine and United Help Ukraine – all recognized for their impactful humanitarian efforts.   The ceremony was opened by First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska. This year’s competition saw an impressive 1,790 applications, with the National Expert Council selecting winners across 25 categories. The event highlighted the vital role of philanthropy and international cooperation in supporting Ukraine during times of crisis.

  • 👏 USUBC and UBN Bring Together Key Voices Shaping Ukraine’s Private Sector Recovery On 20th of June, the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) and the UBN Network hosted a live event in Kyiv, setting the stage for the upcoming Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2025) in Rome. Held at the Parkovy Congress Center, the event gathered senior government officials and MPs, business leaders, investors, development partners and diplomats to advance the conversation around Ukraine’s reconstruction and the central role of the private sector in driving it. The event opened with welcoming remarks from Andrew Pryma, MBA, Co-Founder of UBN Group, and Irina Paliashvili, President & CEO of USUBC, who emphasized the importance of private sector engagement and cross-border partnerships in accelerating Ukraine’s recovery. Keynote addresses by Ambassador Davide La Cecilia, Special Envoy for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, and Oleksii Sobolev, CFA, First Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, underscored Ukraine’s strategic priorities and the shared responsibility of the international community in supporting long-term development. A sharp geopolitical and macroeconomic outlook presented by UBN Network Co-Founder Mark McNamee offered context on how global dynamics are shaping investor sentiment and economic opportunities in Ukraine. The first panel, “The Mineral Deal & A Revitalized Europe – What it Means for Ukraine,” co-moderated by Andrew Prima and Mark McNamee, explored the growing relevance of Ukraine’s resource potential and its alignment with Europe’s industrial transformation. The conversation featured First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Oleksandr Korniyenko, who reflected on the legislative path toward recovery; Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Policy and Nature Management, Oleh Bondarenko, who spoke on Ukraine’s green transition; and Sergii Voitsehovskyi of BGV GROUP MANAGEMENT, who shared the private sector’s perspective on investment-readiness in mining and related sectors. The second panel, “Investment and Innovation,” highlighted practical mechanisms to unlock financing and support growth. Moderated by Irina Paliashvili, the session featured Kristina Mikulova, PhD, Head of the Regional Hub for Eastern Europe at the European Investment Bank (EIB), who outlined EIB’s long-term approach in Ukraine; Viktor Nestulia, Head of the DREAM - Digital Restoration EcoSystem for Accountable Management, who introduced tech-enabled transparency in reconstruction projects; and Remi Duflot, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, who emphasized the EU’s evolving investment framework to support Ukrainian resilience.
