13 months ago I was grinding 80+ hour weeks, constantly stressed, and not thinking too much about my health when I randomly bumped into Bryan Johnson at SFO. We knew some of the same folks from my PayPal days (the company he sold Braintree to), so we started chatting. I was venting about my work-life balance (or lack thereof) when he shared this message: "You can't perform at your best if you're not taking care of yourself first." Direct and to the point. It really stuck with me. For the first time in years, I started actually prioritizing my health. Got some tests done a few weeks later. They revealed a serious health issue that needed immediate attention. Fortunately, early detection made all the difference. That random airport conversation may well have saved my life. Yesterday, I brought Bryan together with 14 healthtech CEOs in LA for dinner where we discussed the same insights he shared with me at SFO - but this time with leaders who are actually building the future of healthcare using AI. These founders are working on everything from AI-powered diagnostics to personalized medicine platforms - technology that could help others catch health issues early like I did. It was an honor to spend time with this group who understand that innovation isn't just about building cool tech - it's about helping people live healthier, longer lives.
